FG Ventures is looking for a Controller who will proactively manage the books. More importantly, the company needs a professional that can take current performance and merge it with a plan to create healthy forecasts for the future.

James P. Friel and Yara Golden are the founders of FG Ventures. Together they invest in and advise 7 figure businesses so they can reach 8 figures and bring in a professional management team or enjoy a profitable exit. They also have info products and provide marketing and consulting services. 

In this role, you will work for FG Ventures, the umbrella company that owns and advises multiple brands/businesses. You will work with all of these brands/businesses that are 6-8 figures in revenue with teams of 20 people or less.  You will manage and oversee financial operations, including preparing accurate financial statements, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. You will be responsible for key tasks such as cash flow management, payroll, financial systems management, and strategic financial planning, providing crucial insights and support to the CEO.

Responsibilities (tasks associated with the role)

• Prepare Financial Statements: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Financial Forecasting: Create financial forecasts to predict future revenues, expenses, and other financial trends.
• Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all accounting practices adhere to legal standards and company policies.
• Manage Accounting Records: Oversee the maintenance of accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Implement Controls: Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Monitor Cash Flow: Track and manage the company's cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and investments.
• Optimize Cash Utilization: Develop strategies for effective cash management and investment.
• Support Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights to support strategic planning and business development.
• Evaluate Financial Performance: Analyze financial performance and recommend improvements to achieve organizational goals.
• Oversee Financial Systems: Manage and improve financial software systems to streamline accounting processes and reporting.

Requirements (expected proficiencies to excel in this role)

• 5+ years of professional experience in finance or accounting

Additional requirements:

• Flexible and available to work/communicate 10 am - 6 pm CT

James holds a Bachelor of Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and lives in Austin, Texas where, in addition to being a student of the game of business, he enjoys working out, drumming, cycling and the occasional prank call.
